Peter Wright has included for former Glasgow Academy player Ross Curle in his squad to face Italy


Scotland under-19 have been forced to make one change in their starting line-up for their international with their Italian counterparts at the Tre Fontane ground in Rome tomorrow (Thursday).

Richard Mill (Stirling County) has withdrawn due to a foot injury. He is replaced at outside centre by Alex Grove (Rugby School) with Ross Curle (Hillhead/Jordanhill) added to the bench.

Scotland under 19 head coach Peter Wright has selected his side to play Italy in the opening under 19 international of the season ahead of the IRB under 19 World Championships in Dubai next March.

The Scots have played three warm-up fixtures against development teams from BT Premiership Division One outfits Glasgow Hawks and Watsonians. They won their third fixture last night 20-3 over Scottish Exiles.

Wright said: “There were a few guys we hadn’t seen during the trials, but they have now played some rugby throughout the three warm-up games and we now have a good side that are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead next week.”

Scotland’s following fixtures are:
Scotland under 19 v France under 19 at Dalziel on Thursday 2 February (kick-off 7:30pm)
Wales under 19 v Scotland under 19 at Aberavon on Thursday 9 February (kick-off 7:30pm)
England under 19 v Scotland under 19 at Twickenham Stoop on Friday 24 February (kick-off 7:45pm)
