Scoring an unanswered 47 points in the second half, Sale Jets pulled off a staggering victory against the Scotland Under-21 side at Heywood Road. The match unfolded like this:

5 0-3 The Scots take the lead with a Blair penalty.
7 3-3 Rhys Jones replies with a penalty.
17 8-3 A David Tait burst is followed up by Adam Newtopn who scored the first of nine tries.
19 11-3 Another penalty for Rhys Jones.
21 11-6 Martin Halsall offends and Blair kicks the penalty.
25 18-6 After a series of drives with Lloyd, Tait and Foden going close, Neil Briggs scores a try, Jones converts.
29 18-13 Sharks grab possession in defence but foolishly try to pass out of defence. Ben Cairns intercepts for a
try, Blair converts.
31 Sean Cox over tryline but disallowed for crossing.
35 18-16 David Blair has a good run but is brought down. Sean Cox sent to sin bin for an offence against Blair
whilst on the ground. Blair recovers to score penalty.
40+1 18-19 Jets fail to release. Blair penalty.

HALF TIME

42 23-19 Opportunist try for the lively Ben Foden.
52 30-19 Great break by Ben Lloyd who unselfishly feeds Steve Hanley for comeback try. Jones converts.
54 Blair charges down Riley kick in defence, Foden rescues Jets, touching down in goal.
55 37-19 Ben Lloyd again! Charges through for 50m. dash for the line. Jones converts.
58 44-19 Hanley bursts through, sets up try for Foden. Jones converts.
63 51-19 Riley and Hanley combine to set up Mike Hills for a flanker's try. Jones converts.
68 58-19 Matt Riley's turn: combines with Jason Duffy to make a diagonal run over the line. Jones converts.
80 65-19 Scots were attacking, Hanley intercepts almost on own line and runs the length of the field to score again.
Jones converts.

When asked what he'd said to the players at half time, James Wade replied, "Basically, we told them that they'd given nineteen points away, to tighten up up front and be more direct. We were asleep for 20 minutes, but had an outstanding hour. It was one of those nights when everything bounced for us. In the last minute, it showed everything: we were defending well, then Steve (Hanley) intercepts and goes the length of the pitch for a try."
