Full circle with the Warriors leaving a football ground and playing on one of the "old rugby " grounds of Scotland.Rugby has been played on these pitches since 1883 when Glasgow Accies arrived there from Burnbank via Maryhill(or in estate agent talk North Kelvinside) having shared the former with another football club called Rangers F.C.

WARRIORS HEAD WEST IN SWITCH OF VENUE FOR OSPREYS GAME

Glasgow Warriors will be making the move along Great Western Road from their Firhill home to Old Anniesland, the home of Glasgow Hawks,GHK and Glasgow High School, for their Celtic League match against The Ospreys on Friday 27 January (kick off 7.30pm).

Firhill based Partick Thistle FC will be playing a league fixture against Forfar Athletic the following day (Saturday 28 January) so the decision has been made by all parties for this one occasion to move the Warriors game the previous evening so the pitch can be prepared for the football fixture.



Scottish Rugby Head of Commercial and Marketing John Donnelly, said: “This is the only fixture change this season due to the Warriors having a home match scheduled for the night before a Partick Thistle home tie. We greatly appreciate the support from the Warriors loyal fans and ask them to continue to cheer on Glasgow by coming along to Old Anniesland on the 27th. Our ticket centre staff are working to configure the seating areas for all gold and silver season ticket holders and further information on ticketing, ground access and the like will be available and posted on our website as soon as possible. Tickets will still be available in the lead-up to the game from www.glasgowwarriors.org or by calling 0131 346 5008 and on the night of the game at the ground.”



Warriors Head Coach Hugh Campbell added: “We’ve had a few team runs at Old Anniesland in the past few weeks so we are used to the ground and the facilities here and we’re confident that the players will take it in their stride. We’re looking to play some attractive rugby that the crowd will enjoy.”



Mark Laidlaw, Scottish Rugby Stadium Manager, said: “The decision has been taken on a ground care basis. Depending on the kind of game played, even with a pitch surface as good as Firhill, rugby can sometimes cut up the turf, especially during set piece play in certain weather conditions. With a league match the following day for The Jags, we can help them by moving the Warriors match against the Ospreys.”
