HAWICK VIEW

GLASGOW HAWKS 32, HAWICK 15
Hawick travelled to Anniesland with a pack that was decimated by injuries, indeed, only Matt Landels remained from last weeks starting front five and several players were making their league debuts.
Coach Jim Hay was of course disappointed but said after the match, \"I was very disappointed with losing. However, considering we had to play with only 2 regular first team forwards, those who stood in did us proud. The future of Hawicks rugby looks bright.\"
Hawks were also under pressure with only winning one out of their last three matches but started the stronger and things looked ominous for Hawick when Hawk\'s winger Low touched down in the left corner in the first minute for a converted try. A penalty followed on 25 minutes to give Hawks a ten point lead. Hawick battled on and ten minutes later Keith Hedley won the race for a chip ahead by Ross Armstrong. Hawks extended their lead with a try by their other winger MacLay just before the break for a half time score of 15 points to 5.
After the restart, Hawks were reduced to 14 men when Duffy was sinbinned and from the penalty, David Lowrie slotted a huge 40 metre penalty to reduce Hawk\'s lead to 7 points. Hawick then lost Zander Bruce to the bin and Hawks slotted a penalty and hooker Smith went over for a converted try for a lead of 25-8. Hawks secured the bonus point with a converted Duffy try but never say die Hawick produced an injury time try by Lowrie with the touchline conversion from Craig Neish for a final score of Glasgow Hawks 32, Hawick 15
