SRU CLAMPS DOWN ON E-BAY TICKET SALES AS FRANCE GAME NOW TOPS 40,000

SRU CLAMPS DOWN ON E-BAY TICKET SALES AS FRANCE GAME NOW TOPS 40,000

The SRU today announced it is acting to prevent the re-sale of international tickets on E-Bay for the forthcoming RBS 6 Nations games at Murrayfield. The move comes at a time when Murrayfield ticket sales for the first Scotland international against France on 5th February have risen to over 40,000.

There are currently 45 sets of tickets on E-bay for re-sale. This significant increase has been discovered for both of Scotland’s home games against France and England. (25th February)

The SRU is contacting everybody who has been offering these tickets on E-Bay, warning they are breaching the conditions under which the tickets were issued, and adding that they reserve the right to refuse admission to the original ticket holders concerned.

The E-Bay tickets have been offered from many different sources, such as debenture holders, supporters Club members, tickets offered on sale to the public and, for the Calcutta Cup match, tickets issued to the RFU at Twickenham.

Meanwhile the official sale of tickets for the France game on Sunday 5th February, which kicks off at 1500, is picking up after a tentative period before Christmas. The SRU’s Head of Commercial and Marketing, John Donnelly, is now encouraged by the latest figures of over 40,000.

“We offered an initial sale of 4,000 tickets last December to the Scottish public, for the first time, which proved very popular but the club and debenture holders take up was slow at first. But now, and still with over two weeks to go before the France game, an increasing number of supporters are taking up their allocation.

“Today’s figure of just over 40,000 is promising and my message to the Scottish public is to get behind the team and that they are still able to buy tickets from the Murrayfield ticket office and SRU website.

“There is a fantastic pre match entertainment planned for the France game and more at half time, so I would encourage all supporters to be part of what will be a memorable experience.”
