HAWKS S2S BEAT MARR

Marr S2,3-Glasgow Hawks S2,25

The S2 team were down 6 regulars for this match but again the strength ot
the squad shone through in this awesome display. We were delighted to
welcome back Tom Cahn after months of injury problems(his last game was
against Stirling County in the first match of the season) and he was
awarded the team captaincy for the day.
From the outset Marrs big pack attacked hard. For 10 minutes we were camped
in our own half but our defence was rock solid. The deadlock was broken with
a breakawat try and we didnt look back.A further 2 tries followed in the
1st half and another 5 in the second. There were lots of good things about
this performance but what stood out was the overall teamwork and player
support throughout the game.
There was a cracking try from Max Martin(fully recovered from last weeks
boxing),he gathered the ball at about the half way line kicked and chased
and pressurised the Marr full back to the extent that he fumbled and Max
pounced and scored.Rory Taylor had a couple of crackers, one being a solo
effort from 70 metres out(I was tired just watching).Scott Fraser got his
name on the score sheet for the first time this year when he supported a
Jonny Byrne Leitch attack and went over for a fine score.
8 tries to 1-a fine result. The only blot being the fact that we only
managed 1 conversion all afternoon-hopefully Joff Stenhouses injury will
not keep him out for too long!
We have now defeated Glasgow District winners and runners up,Ayrshire
District winners and runners up and Borders District winners and runners
up.We have asked the Edinburgh District winners for a match but they have
failed to respond to our several invitations!
Training as usual on Thursday at 6:45 at the High School.
