East Kilbride S2,12 - Glasgow Hawks S2,25
This was a tough, physical encounter. From the outset it was clear that the EK boys were big and their tactic was to try to keep the ball in the pack.Indeed Gregor McDougall(Hawks coach) commented that he hadnt seen so many rolling mauls in a midi game before. It became apparent that early release of the ball was required if the boys were to continue in their winning ways.
The try count ended 8 to 3 in Hawks favour(again only one conversion-please come back Joff) with the home team scoring in the dying minutes when Hawks were reduced to 14 boys.
This was a real test of physicality for the boys and I am pleased to report that they passed with flying colours. The EK boys were up for this challenge and put in a fine display and one can only assume that their failure to qualify for Murrayfield was a similar "blip" to our own. They were on this showing one of the best teams we have played this season.
Still, this S2 team of ours seem to be unstoppable just now but with a couple of tough away games in the borders looming it is hoped that they can maintain both form and results.
