BIGGAR
Gary Parker has already achieved much as a coach and he will arrive with a determined Biggar side that will be looking to add to their very impressive victory over second place Watsonians last week. Back in October Hawks took the honours with a 20-30 victory but it was hard-fought and I expect the same today.
A warm welcome to one of the hardest working clubs in Scotland.
Some months ago I issued a challenge:
Ireland v Scotland, on Friday 10th March, at Donnybrook, there will be a new International level rugby match. 2 sides, made up of club players from each country will compete against each other.
The team will be coached by Gary Parker and Bob McKillop (Strling) who are both excellent coaches.
I am offering a bottle of your choice to the person who submits a team list that is closest to the one that takes the pitch. All entries to me (see contact details below) by Saturday 4th March 2006. (Gary Parker, his family and his alter ego are all banned from entering).

Hawks Sponsors
Many of our club and individual player sponsors are with us today. The Hawks development as the country’s leading club is not possible without their continued support – so many thanks from the Board, the players and supporters. We hope that you enjoy the day.
Eric Milligan
Another success from the Hawks conveyer belt sees our club captain securing a full-time contract with Glasgow. (The 35th pro player out of Hawks since its formation in 1997). Inevitably we are always stuck with that sour/ sweet feeling on these occasions. Delighted for Eric, of course, whom I am confident will adapt well to the demands of pro rugby. But, equally, feeling a bit sad that we are losing another quality player.
Remembering that we have already lost 3 (Colin Shaw, Steve Swindall and Ferg Thomson) since last season it maybe is not too surprising that we’ve had the odd hiccup this season. But we are still the team that the rest are trying to catch.
Holidays
Apologies that the column is short this week – but I was away last week. So – a holiday story.
Got a bit over excited chasing a turtle in the Red Sea and started to run out of air at a depth of around 25 metres. Had to share the air supply of the diving instructor – Vladimir (honest, he was from Odessa).
So a big thanks to ‘Vlad the Inhaler.’
