Oban v GHK Match Preview

As the interesting and prize winning stage of the season is getting more and more imminent, GHK make the long journey up to Oban in a crucial National 5 encounter. February is a huge month for the Anniesland men with a very touch match at Oban followed by the all important trip to Marr...it couldn't get much tougher.

Oban have been very disappointing this season compared to the last few campaigns lingering in mid-table with a 6-9 record. Their average home record, including 3 losses, can be looked at with a pinch of salt by virtue of their near shock victory against Marr. By all accounts the current league leaders were lucky to come away with points in that one. It is notoriously a very difficult place to visit. Indeed up until GHK's victory there last season, Oban hadn't been beaten at home for a very long time.

That victory for GHK was one of the best fought victories all season last year played in appalling conditions. The trip home was made all the more enjoyable because of this. However, coming away with a disappointing performance will please none of the Glasgow side and put a huge dent in their title aspirations. They still stand unbeaten in the league, the only such side in Scottish rugby, and are full of confidence having run in their first ton of the season last week...a very different game is ahead this week though.

Squad News

There are 5 changes to the starting line up this week. Both centres are changed with Murray Soutar and Jaimie Millan coming back, with Bill Criggie retaining the number 10 slot after a fine performance last week. Gillon Rand comes into scrum half.

In the pack John Lohar starts after his man of the match performance last week with Nick Cram promoted from the bench. On the bench this week a totally different impact trio of Gordi Reid, Colin Donald and Cammy Little, all back after injury and resting.
