Young Scots' show enterprise but Gallic visitors too strong

SCOTLAND were unable to prevent a powerful French side from winning the Under-19 international at Dalziel last night but the Scots deserve plaudits for their brave defence and their willingness to attack the visitors.
Scotland had good performances from full-back Colin Goudie, who showed pace and skill in offensive play, locks Steven Turnbull and Richard Vernon who gave the Scotland pack extra dynamics and centre Andrew Easson, who showed strong qualities in policing the midfield.
Bourgoin stand-off Morgan Parra put France ahead with a penalty before Scotland replied in kind through skipper Cameron Ferguson.
The teams were level at 3-3 at the break but four minutes into the second half a penalty by Ferguson put Scotland ahead. The lead was short-lived as a midfield move gave French skipper Jean Monribot a try under the posts leaving Parra with an easy conversion. Wing Alexis Palisson scored his side's second try.
