SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY REPORTS
BACK in Italy, Glasgow Hawks lost to their hosts UR Capitolina on Friday afternoon ahead of yesterday's big match in Rome. The two teams had both topped their domestic leagues with something to spare but Hawks were never really in the race as the Italian side ran out comfortable 47-22 winners despite a second-half fightback from the Scottish champions.
The worrying aspect in the long term is that Italy have ten professional teams above Capitolina although the Roman club clearly have money to spend and a fair bit more was generated by selling pints of red wine for £1.40. The Italians fielded several Argentines, two of whom had been capped, and one Kiwi breakaway who wouldn't have looked out of place in the NPC.
