Edinburgh Evening News reports
SCOTTISH officials can be guaranteed to join Welsh and Irish colleagues in fighting against any attempt to reduce the number of Celtic teams in future European Cups. Reports from across the channel have indicated the French want to see Celtic entries cut to six. Presently eight teams (including two Scottish sides) qualify automatically - plus one from a play off with Italian opposition.
Demanding change, French League president Serge Blanco says that a new accord due to be signed in April 2007 should reflect dominance by his country's teams and also the English.
But opposition was today led by Welsh Euro official Stuart Gallacher who said: "We are completely against it."
