S2 MUNSTER TOUR EASTER 2006
The S2s are going on the road! 23 players and 28 groupies(parents and assorted hangers on) depart Prestwick on the 11:55 flight to Shannon on Friday morning and boy are we excited! The groupies were slightly on edge when advised that Limerick might be a little quiet on Friday night(our main hosts at Shannon rugby club advised that Limerick goes dry on Good Friday) however as you would expect our hotel has confirmed that bar facilities will be available for resident heathens.
On Friday evening the boys will have a training session at Shannon and on Saturday they take part in a 3 way blitz tournament with Shannon and Old Crescent Rugby Football Clubs. On Saturday evening we go to Thomond Park to watch the Edinburgh /Munster game(can`t quite decide which team to support but think I will wear my Glasgow top). On Sunday we travel to Tipperary(and no it`s not a long way) and play the Tipperary under 14 cadets(the Irish equivalent of the Glasgow S2 development squad). All the games will be very tough as the Irish age groups are about 6 months ahead of us but the boys are up for the challenge.
We had a very good training session in the rain last night and a special vote of thanks goes to Jimmy Gossman who came out on his wedding anniversary to put the forwards through their paces(I don’t think his wife believed him when he said he was nipping out for a couple of pints of milk) and Kenny Baillie who came along to add his support and good wishes for the tour.
Here`s hoping for a successful, dry(outside) and enjoyable weekend and I confirm that a full report will be posted on my return, bet you cant wait!
