Glasgow flanker Andrew Wilson will make his comeback to the Warriors starting line-up following a six month lay-off due to a fractured dislocated ankle sustained early in the season in the Celtic League match against Llanelli Scarlets at Stradey Park in October.
Head coach Sean Lineen said: “Andy has been working hard and playing club rugby for Aberdeen GSFP in the BT Premiership to build up his game time and we’re very pleased that he’s ready to rejoin our starting line-up. It has been a frustrating time for him but hopefully on Saturday against Ulster he will get the chance to show what he can do, particularly with the forthcoming Scotland v Barbarians game, the Scotland tour to South Africa and Scotland A trip to Canada for the Churchill Cup fast approaching.”
Wilson added: “It’s been a long slog but I’d like to put on record that the medics and staff here at Glasgow have been brilliant – especially for the kind of injury I had. I needed to get my confidence back and I’ve been training well. My fitness is much better now and with every game I played for [Aberdeen] Grammar, I felt my fitness and my ankle get better and better.”
Also returning to the starting line-up following a thirteen week absence through a knee (medial ligament) injury is Colin Shaw. He said: “I’ve been raring to get back after being out for so long. That was the first major injury that I’ve ever had and it has been so frustrating. I really enjoyed my two games that I played with Glasgow Hawks recently to get back into things and training here [with the Warriors] has been great. Hopefully I can bring something fresh to the side and, although the defence in last week’s game against the Ospreys was outstanding, we’ll hopefully bring a bit more in attack on Saturday at Firhill.”
