ROSS MISSES FINAL IRB MATCH

FERGUSON MOVES TO CENTRE FOR SAMOAN SEND-OFF

Scotland Under 19 head coach Peter Wright has selected his side to play Samoa in the 9th/10th place play-off at the IRB U19 World Championship in Dubai.

In what will be the Scots’ last game of the tournament, Scotland U19 captain Cameron Ferguson moves to outside centre and Hawick’s Graham Hogg will slot in at stand-off.

Watsonians scrum-half Murray Bringhurst is handed a starting berth and will operate behind a pack which sees three new faces from the one that beat Romania 38-10 on Monday.

Pat McArthur comes in at hooker while Dave Lambert features in the second row. Watsonians No. 8 Graeme McGilchrist is also handed a starting place.

At the same ground where the Scots have won their last two games, against Japan and Romania, Wright is in buoyant mood about finishing ahead of last year’s efforts.

From their training base at the Etisalat Academy, Wright said: “We’ve moved Cameron into the centre to get him away from the defensive zone, he has been putting in a big number of hits over the past few games.

”He also has a bit of pace which we are looking to exploit out wide.

“We have started Murray Bringhurst at scrum-half purely because Jamie Hunter has started the past two games, they are both on a par with each other,” he added.
