GET ROPED IN AND HELP SAVE LIVES AT
HEARTS FIRST BIG MURRAYFIELD ABSEIL
- The British Heart Foundation appeals for kids and adults to sign up
for abseil challenge at the home of Scottish rugby -
The British Heart Foundation is challenging supporters to get roped in
and raise vital funds for life-saving research at the 'Hearts First
Big Murrayfield Abseil'.
Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, the home of Scottish rugby is the
venue for this exciting challenge on Sunday 14 May 2006, organised by
BHF Scotland.
There are two events. People aged 16 and over will make a 100ft
free-descent abseil from the roof of the south stand onto the pitch.
Anyone aged 8 to 18 can take part in the Big Kids Abseil, a 50ft
free-descent from the upper tier. No previous abseiling experience is
necessary as training and supervision will be provided on the day by
qualified instructors.
Participants will pay a registration fee and in return for raising the
minimum amount of sponsorship they will receive a t-shirt to say 'I
abseiled Murrayfield'.
Heart and circulatory disease is Scotland's biggest killer and is
responsible for more than 22,000 deaths a year. While the number of
people dying from coronary heart disease has fallen by 38% since 1995,
this means that more people than ever before are living with heart
disease and need specialist care.
The 'Hearts First Big Murrayfield Abseil' is just one of several
challenge events being organised by the BHF in Scotland this year to
help raise essential funds to continue its life-saving heart research.
