CUS Torino set for busy weekend in Glasgow
The CUS Torino party, headed by Dr Alberto Valsania, consists of ten senior players, twenty under 17 youngsters, five coaches and some fifteen officials and parents.
An under 16 seven will be first into action on Saturday morning, joining twelve local club sides in an under 16 sevens tournament at Dumbreck (kick-off 10am) as a curtain-raiser to the main event.
In the afternoon, a senior sevens squad, all aged between 18 and 22 and captained by Gabio Coggiola, will compete in the Jenkins and Marr Glasgow City Sevens hosted by Cartha Queen’s Park. They have been drawn against Melrose in one of the first ties of the afternoon, kicking off at 1.30pm. The record prize money for the winners of £2,500, £750 for the runners-up, or even the £250 for winning the plate competition, would go some way towards meeting travel costs.
A civic reception hosted by the City Council in Glasgow’s spectacular City Chambers awaits the whole party in the evening.
