Good afternoon Hawks,
I'm planning an expedition to climb a mountain called Khan Tengri for 3 weeks in August/September and in doing so I will be raising funds for Maggie's Cancer Centres. It's a serious climb (not a trek!) and in order to save costs I'm not going on a commercial expedition, but travelling independently to Krygyzstan with my friend. At 6,995m it's a big mountain but I plan to use it as a stepping stone to climb an 8,000m peak next year followed by Mount Everest in 2008. I have set up a fundraising website at http://www.justgiving.com/rickymunday . I have agreed with Maggie's that all money raised through this site will go directly to them. I am also planning to hold a fundraising raffle and they have agreed that I can use up to 30% of the money raised to help with costs (as per the Institute of Fundraising guidelines).
I would be grateful, therefore if you would consider sponsoring me, or putting me in touch with any contacts who would be willing to donate a raffle prize. In addition, if any contacts would be interested in corporate sponsorship in order to cover part of my costs then I would be able to give more of the money I raise from the raffle directly to Maggie's. I can supply more details on request.
Everyone will have been touched in some way by cancer and 1 in 3 of us are likely to be directly affected in our lifetime, so please dig deep and donate to this fantastic cause.
Any support would be greatly appreciated by me and more importantly by Maggie's. Feel free to forward this email to anyone who you think might be interested in supporting me.
Regards,
Ricky
