SRU AWARDS DINNER


At the SRU Awards Dinner held At Murrayfield on Saturday the 6 Hawks Club Internationlists received their Scottish Caps
The six Caps are Mike Adamson,Stewart Smith,Murray Strang,Richie Maxton,Sandy Warnock and Steven Duffy

Rugby’s prize-giving event of the season, the official Scottish Rugby Awards Dinner, took place at Murrayfield this evening with a raft of winners from all levels of the game in Scotland being honoured by their peers.

The awards, hosted by former Scotsport Rugby Roundup reporter Iona Scott and former Scotland and British Lions flanker John Beattie, saw Scotland captain Jason White pick up the title of Scotland Player of the Year – yet another to add to his growing collection including The Famous Grouse Player of the Year, Guinness Premiership Players’ Player of the Year and SPRA Players’ Player of the Year.


In the pro-teams, the players of the year were Ross Ford (Border Reivers), Mike Blair (Edinburgh Gunners) and Kevin Tkachuk (Glasgow Warriors).

The Scotland Player of the Year award and the three pro-team Player of the Year Awards were voted on by members of the public through the Scottish Rugby website (www.scottishrugby.org).

Other winners were:

Scotland U21 player of the year: Alan MacDonald (Edinburgh Gunners)

Scotland U19 player of the year: Steven Turnbull (Stirling County)

Scotland U18 player of the year: Stephen McColl (Dunfermline)

Scotland 7s player of the year: Clark Laidlaw (Jed-Forest)

Scotland Women’s player of the year: Sarah Mee (Watsonians)

BT Premiership 1: Calum Cusiter (Boroughmuir)

BT Premiership 2: Matt Coupar (Edinburgh Academicals)

BT Premiership 3: Mark Ryan (Ellon)

BT National League 1: Gary Coull (Perthshire)

BT National League 2: Gareth McCrorie (Garnock)

BT National League 3: Morris Dillon (Highland)

BT National League 4: Kenny Brown (Dumfries)

BT National League 5: Gavin Anderson (Marr)



Club coach of the year: Kenny Murray (Cartha QP)

Age grade coach of the year: Kevin Mania (Gala Red Triangle)

Try of the Year: Mark Robertson (Melrose), Ireland v Scotland club international

SVQ of the year: James Dunbar (Glenrothes)

Referee of the year: Peter Allan (Watsonians)

Spirit of Rugby award: Hugh Dobson (Kinross)
