HAWKS LEGENDS REPORT

FROM A SOURCE IN THE EAST END OF GLASGOW

On Saturday, August 12, 2006, a Scottish 'Legends' XV took to the field at Uddingston to play the local host club in a match to celebrate their Centenary. The was a strong Hawks representation in the sqaud with former Hawks coach Peter Wright, former Hawks captain, Iain Leighton, ex-players Fergus Wallace and Cammy Little, and current player, Kenny Baillie all taking to the field.

Wrighty lasted five minutes before a pulled calf muscle ("aye, cheers Wrighty) ended his game, but Leighton, Wallace, Little and Baillie saw out the whole 65 minutes...the 2nd half last 25 minutes when which everyone was quite pleased about!

Several scores for Little and Leighton and multiple assists by Baillie and Wallace contributed to a fairly comprehensive 70-80 point victory for the select side.

The game was played in an excellent spirit with Craig Chalmers the star attraction and proving to everyone there why he won Grand Slams and represented the British Lions!

Next stop for the 'Legends' a game against a Borders Select at Peebles on August 27th to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Relief andf Maggies Cancer Centres.

There was a link with Maggies Cancer Centres on Saturday as well as Ricky Munday's parents were watching as they are members of Uddingston RFC. For those who don't know, Ricky is currently on his way to Kyrgyzstan to spend 3 weeks attempting to climb a mountain called Khan Tengri. He is doing this to raise money for Maggies.
