GLASGOW Hawks finally showed the form that makes them deserving of the tag of title contenders, albeit against a woeful Aberdeen side who are candidates for relegation.

The result was never in doubt from the moment winger Steve Gordon scampered in at the corner on the stroke of half-time after the home side failed to clear their lines. The 11-point lead for the visitors was just too much for Grammar, who capitulated in the second half en route to their third defeat of the season.

A dismayed home coach Damian Reidy said: \"I have never seen such a poor effort in my five years with the club. On this form we could well be relegated.\"

Former Aberdeen player, stand-off Murray Strang, proved a thorn in the side of his old team, probing and tormenting a limited home defence, enabling his side to run in four tries to launch their title challenge.

Full-back Mike Adamson was equally effective, kicking three penalties and converting three of the touchdowns from scrum-half Kenny Sinclair, Gordon and centre Rory Kerr, while prop Grant Mories rumbled in for a fine solo effort.

Lock Martin Stanning briefly raised home hopes with a breakout try, while stand-off Keith Oddie ended the day scoring with a late touchdown.
