An advisory group set-up to test initiatives, exchange ideas and share information between the professional and club tiers of the game in Scotland is to meet next week.
The Performance Advisory Forum has been created following a recommendation from Scottish Rugby’s working party on governance.
Henry Edwards, Scottish Rugby’s Head of Player Development, who is chairing the forum, said: “The forum will have an important role in discussing and reviewing areas that affect both the elite and community areas of the game. The aim is to improve communication and identify potential solutions to some of the challenges facing the game in Scotland.”
Serving on the forum alongside Edwards will be national squad analyst and Currie RFC hooker Gavin Scott, Glasgow Warriors’ head coach Sean Lineen, Boroughmuir’ RFC's Peter Blackhall, Glasgow Hawks’ Director of Rugby Kenny Hamilton and the Scottish Institute of Sport’s high performance rugby coach Bob Easson.
The Forum will meet on Wednesday (27 September) at Murrayfield Stadium.
This group is one of a number of initiatives designed to give Scottish Rugby’s clubs their say in the shaping of the sport. Two other such groups, the Competitions Commission and the Community Forum will also be meeting over the next few weeks.
The Competitions Commission, which will look at the structure of the league and cup competitions, the structure of the season and competition rules, will meet on Tuesday (26 September), while the Community Forum, which will be looking at more general issues affecting the community game, such as funding, will meet on Wednesday 11 October.
