In a rain soaked Vicarage Road, Glasgow Warriors fought tooth and nail with every ounce of possession they had, and at one point led Saracens 16-3 but a second half fight back from the home side saw the match end 28-23 at the final whistle.
Saracens record opening win against Glasgow...
Saracens recorded an opening win in the European Challenge Cup as they beat a spirited Glasgow Warriors 28-23 at a damp Vicarage Road Stadium, the home side crossing the line three times in a hard fought encounter.
The game was played in driving rain which the visitors seemed to adapt to better as they went into the break 10-16 in front. But dogged determination from the Men in Black saw them overturn the Scottish side's lead and hit back with two tries in the second period as the forwards dominated up front and by the time Glasgow hit back with a few minutes to go the home side were just too far in front to be caught.
The visitors will have been pleased with their performance, especially considering the result last time the two sides met in 2004, and this means that Saracens are going to have work hard in the tournament, especially in the return leg in January, although the Men in Black can take resolve from the way they wrestled the game back.
