AJ MacFarlane helped keep Ayr in the Premiership hunt
The Scotland Premiership title challenge of Watsonians suffered another major setback as they plunged to a 15-8 defeat against Ayr at Millbrae.

Sonians appeared to be in control as they led 8-0 at the break thanks to a Jamie Easton touchdown and Mike Ker\'s penalty.

But the seasiders rallied strongly after the restart to claim the glory with tries by Ally MacFarlane, Glenn Tippett and a 70-metre effort from Ryan Holland.

Heriots completed the double over struggling champions Glasgow Hawks - clinging on for a deserved 22-15 success at Old Anniesland.

Fijian soldier Apolosi Satala was the man who mattered for the visitors, pouncing for two great touchdowns.

The other score was grabbed by James Thomson, while Graham Wilson kicked a conversion.

Steve Gordon and Ewan Smith went over for Hawks, with Mike Adamson and Murray Strang sharing the boot duties.

Two late tries from line-out drives earned Scotland Premiership pacesetters Currie a dramatic 30-20 triumph over battling Aberdeen at Malleny Park.

The Dons had looked set to continue their revival by levelling the issue at 20-20 with a penalty try just seconds from the end.

But the home troops stepped up the pace when it mattered, carving out the decisive scores for Jim Taggart and Andy McMahon.

The other Currie touchdowns came from Chris Browns, Mark Blair and Stevie McGowan, while Ally Warnock slotted the rest of their points.

Aberdeen\'s earlier counters came from Colin Philips, with Ben Spearitt landing a series of kicks.

Melrose rekindled their Scotland Premiership challenge by sweeping aside Dundee High FP 34-10, but they failed to bag a precious bonus point.

The Borderers\' touchdowns were snapped up by full-back Alec Jessop, hooker Wayne Mitchell and Barry Watson in injury time.

Scott Wight was in tremendous kicking form, banging over two conversions, four penalties and a snap drop goal.

Cammy Ferguson barged over for the consolation score for the Taysiders, for whom Barry Jones had a conversion and penalty.

Basement boys Hawick pulled off a major shock by outgunning Boroughmuir 20-10 at Meggetland.

Greg Thomson was the Greens hero with a try double, the others coming from Bruce McNeil and Ryan Hogg to capture the unlikely bonus point.

Breakaway forward Angus Martyn broke through twice for the shellshocked home brigade.

Premiership Division Two

The leading four sides in Premier Division 2 all won meaning no change at the top. Stirling County stay top after denting Stewarts-Melville\'s promotion hopes with a 22-11 win at Bridgehaugh. Ross Aitken, Craig Deacons and Justin Mathieson had the tries, Brian Archibald slotted two conversions and a penalty while Alec Clarke\'s try and Richard Borthwick\'s two penalties failed even to claim a bonus.

GHA flourished at Poynder Park with a 29-11 win over Kelso - Miller, Watson, Bulloch and Boag grabbing tries with Dunn kicking the rest of GHA\'s points.

Edinburgh Accies left it late again. Trailing Biggar by 13-8 at half time, they came back although it seemed that the Chris McKean show would take the honours. The Biggar man had two tries, two conversions and two penalties but Accies sneaked it on the final whistle after grabbing a penalty try and one each for Dan Teague and Tom Stewart, Gavin Douglas\'s second conversion clinching the points.

Hamilton\'s 19-18 win at Selkirk keeps them in fourth spot. Strydon (2) and Gerry Hawkes went over for tries and Kenny Diffenthal kicked two conversions.

Cartha QP lost 14-13 to Jedforest at Dumbreck - Smilie and Ryan Moffat grabbed a try each and Ruaridh Jackson kicked a penalty.

Tries from Egelton and McCulloch and two Ross Curle penalties gave Hillhead-Jordanhill a 16-11 win over Gala at Hughenden.

Premiership Division Three

West of Scotland ran riot to beat Perthshire 51-3 with nine tries, Andy Park bagging a hat trick and Sloan, Bulloch, Young, Spottieswood, Duck and Morrison getting the others. Sinclair kicked three conversions.

Cambuslang\'s miserable run continued with a 33-5 defeat at Ellon.

Although it was only 17-17 at the break, Dunfermline stretched away from Murrayfield Wanderers to win 45-17 in Premier Division 3.

Musselburgh stay second after a bonus point win over Berwick but it was close with the visitors coming back from 19-3 down to pick up a bonus at 24-21.
