Glasgow under 15 League Division 1
Glasgow Hawks, 49 - Ayr, 0
Hawks continued their undefeated success on Sunday when they played Ayr at home. They faced a huge forward pack but got off to a quick start when Max Martin set up the first try for Finn Campbell Young after only 6 minutes. Unfortunately 10 minutes into the game Kenny McGowan was led off the field with a dislocated shoulder . He was replaced by Stephen Dickson. 2 minutes later a great run by Rory Taylor gave Hawks their second try. Number 3 came when Sean McAlinden set up Finn Campbell Young for his second try after 16 minutes. Towards half time Sean was in action again when a quick pick up by him saw the ball passed through a quick set of back hands to give Max Martin try number 4 for the home side. The first half could only be described as a formidable forward battle, with some superb tackling by the Hawks, and well contested by both sides. Although the Hawks led 20-0 at this stage the score didn't really reflect the closeness of the match.
The Hawks continued to pile on the pressure early on in the second half when Stephen Dickson touched down between the posts after only 5 minutes. Chris Rhodes converted. 7 minutes later a loose ball by Ayr was quickly stolen by Chris who passed to Max Martin. Max ran the best part of 80 metres to score his second try under the posts allowing Chris Rhodes to convert again. With only 10 minutes left on the clock Aiden McCall-Hagan scored in what was his first ever match with the Hawks. Not content with that Aiden then went on to set up another for Jonny Byrne-Leitch giving Hawks their 8th try. In the final minute a quick pass by Greame Robertson gave Patrick Bell try number 9. A truly strong and determined performance from all the boys. Well done Hawks!
Next Sunday sees the boys away to Dalziel. Players and supporters all wish Kenny McGowan a speedy recovery after today's injury and also to Cameron Crozier who was unable to play today having broken his arm at a school match on Saturday.
