Two players who have risen through the ranks to the ultimate honour today made the fourth round draw for the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools under-18 cup.
Scotland backs Chris Paterson and Mike Blair both featured in the competition during their school days at Galashiels Academy and Edinburgh Academy respectively.
Their former schools both posted impressive third round victories last week: Galashiels Academy defeated last year’s finalists Robert Gordon’s College 15-3 in Aberdeen; while Edinburgh Academy accounted for Glasgow Academy on home territory at Newfield, 31-9.

Bell Baxter and the High School of Dundee will actually meet twice next week. Their first contest is in the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools Cup as both teams strive to progress towards the final on the international pitch at Murrayfield.
Their second meeting is on that very international pitch. At half-time in Saturday’s Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Test between Scotland and the Pacific Islanders at Murrayfield, the two schools will play a demonstration sevens tie.
That was their prize for reaching the final of the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools 7s competition staged on the back pitches at Murrayfield in September.
On that occasion, Bell Baxter triumphed 33-7.
