Ayr stepped up their Premiership challenge with a comfortable 34-3 win over Dundee High School FP at Millbrae.
Pierluigi Gentile was the star of the show as he bagged a hat-trick of tries .

Nick Lavelle also had three conversions and a penalty, while Barry Jones kicked Dundee's consolation penalty.

Glasgow Hawks staved off a double defeat to struggling Hawick as they claimed a 27-17 win at soggy Old Anniesland.

Euan Smith, Stevie Gordon and Mike Adamson were the touchdown stars, with Adamson adding all the conversions and a penalty brace.

Keith Hedley and Colin Murray picked up late tries for the Greens, whose other points came from the boot of Rory Hutton.

Currie continued their charge to a first Premiership title in clinical fashion as they crushed Boroughmuir 88-17 at Malleny Park.

The home side had the precious bonus point in the bag at the interval when they led 45-5 with a seven-try haul.

Ross Weston led the charge with a double, while the other first-half counters came from Steve McEwan, Mark Cairns, Andy Muir, James Taggart and Geoff Caldwell.

Cairns, McEwan, Taggart, Muir and Caldwell completed their doubles after the restart - along with Ross Cook for Boroughmuir.

The other Currie scorers were Graham Calder and Andy McMahon, with Ally Warnock banging over nine conversions.

Elgin O'Donnell also went over for the outclassed Meggetland side, with Cook converting once.

Aberdeen GSFP's relegation fears deepened as they plunged to a 31-13 defeat at the hands of Heriot's at Goldenacre.

The Dons were never in the hunt and leaked tries to Apalopsi Satala, James Thompson, Ryan Grant and Cammy Goodall, with Graham Wilson adding four conversions and a penalty.

Billy Russell and former Heriot's man Rob Barrie replied for Aberdeen and Ben Spearitt slotted a penalty.

Watsonians floored Melrose at Myreside to keep their slim title hopes alive with a 33-24 win.

Lock Jeff Nicholson was the architect of the victory with two excellent touchdowns, while the other Sonians' counter came from Will Rowley.

Mike Ker weighed in with three conversions and four penalties.

Graeme Dodds, Craig Edwards and Kieran Coonety went over for the Borderers, for whom Edwards also claimed the boot points.

Scott Wight was wide with a late kick which would have salvaged a consolation bonus point.
