HIGH SCHOOL PLAY FOR QUARTER FINAL PLACE

THE HERALD REPORTS

Coach admits team must do better

ALAN LORIMER December 05 2006
Glasgow High School play against Loretto tomorrow at Anniesland with a place in the quarter-finals of the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools Under-18 Cup the prize for the winners.
Dave Barrett, the High School coach, believes home advantage could be crucial. \"We don\'t know much about Loretto, but what we do know is that our playing records are similar. So being at home might give us an edge.
\"We have to recreate the form that got us a win over Stewart\'s-Melville College early last month. Since then our performances have not been good, and losing to Edinburgh Academy on Saturday has got to be a wake-up call. We will be looking for a big game from our big players like back rowers Roy McCormick and Greg Willard and full back Euan Allen. But overall we need a team performance\" said Barrett.
High have only twice reached the quarter-finals of the cup, and on one of these occasions progressed to the semi-finals only to lose against the eventual winners, Merchiston.
