Boroughmuir
If you were not there let me try and paint the picture of the last time these two teams played. It was carnage – Hawks surrendered a first half lead just before the break and thereafter it was one way traffic as B’muir romped to a 51-21 victory. It was a performance built around magnificent support play with the defence being turned by full back and wingers breaking in mid-field and a rampant back-row. Muir have a tradition of playing open and exciting rugby and with Hawks having a point to prove this could be a magnificent spectacle today.

After 8 league games B’muir were top of the Premier League but indifferent form has brought them to a much more modest position. A win for Muir would put them above Hawks – but a win for Hawks would continue their climb up the league with a top 4 position the next target. A warm welcome to players, coaches and officials as well as the supporters who have made the trek from Embra to the Cultural Capital.

Tonight Ally Maclay has organised a wee get together for players and officials at Hawks and the other sports sections. It is being catered by Hungrys (a connection via scrum-half Steven Biggart). At around 8 there is live music and you are welcome to join us for a modest contribution of £5. Because of the generous subsidy for the event, I said I’d mention Hungrys who cater everything you can think of from business breakfasts to theme parties and weddings – so I have.

Pro Players to Join Clubs?
Already announced is the experimental laws to be used in the P1 super-cup that starts in January. There may be a possibility of 1st and 2nd year pro players being released back to clubs to participate. Inevitably there is a lot of discussion to take place before it can happen – but I would hope that clubs would respond positively to the possibility and find a way to make it happen.

Club International
The coaches for the club International against Ireland on 9th March will be appointed this week. Team manager Grant Wilson (B’muir) is already appointed on the back of the excellent job he did last year. Who will play this time? And can we win?

Visitors
Today’s guests include the Hawks Under 16 side and The High School of Glasgow 1st team squad. Welcome to you all.

At the time of writing The High School face a Scottish Cup tie against Loretto mid-week and we wish them well.

A quick health-check on the youth section sees that they are stronger than ever. The S1 team is unbeaten and may be heading to the National finals. They may also be touring Malone around Easter.

S2 – have hung in gamely and are having a lot of fun. Could do with 1 or 2 more players on a regular basis.

S3 – Unbeaten and are capable of winning the Glasgow Championship and will want to put up a good show at the National finals.

Under 16s – have been handicapped by disruption to training recently but still have a chance to get a share in the championship and possibly get to the National finals.

Well done to all players, coaches and administrators.
