SCOTS 7s FALL SHORT IN GEORGE

The Scotland 7s team suffered three defeats in George, South Africa today at the hands of New Zealand, Australia and Tunisia.
Head coach Stephen Gemmell said: “We let ourselves down a bit today, especially in defence.
“We had a really hard group but we’re not making excuses for our performance.”
The opening game of the day was against New Zealand 7s who won 35-5, the Scots’ only try coming from Glasgow Hawks’ Mike Adamson.
Next up were Australia who won 31-12. Scotland’s two tries came from Border Reivers pair Mark Robertson and Lee Kibble. Adamson converting one attempt.
The final game of the day was against team-to-watch Tunisia, who beat Australia in their first game 21-12.
The Scots fell by 33 points to 14 with tries coming from Adamson and Mark Robertson. Adamson again converting one attempt.
Gemmell concluded: “We learnt many lessons in Dubai, but not quickly enough.”
The Scotland 7s team now face Kenya in the Bowl ¼ final tomorrow at 11:47am local time, 9:47am GMT.
