SCOTLAND will face Kenya in the quarter-finals of Bowl after finishing fourth in the pool at the end of the first day's play in the South Africa Sevens at George, the second leg of the 2006/07 IRB World Sevens Series.
"It was disappointing to finish last in the group. We missed far too many one-on-one tackles and at this level that's expensive. We had hoped to compete against Tunisia but when Ben Addison was sin-binned that was it over for us," said Scotland sevens coach Stephen Gemmell.
The Scots lost 35-5 to New Zealand, their one try being scored by Mike Adamson, before going down to Australia by 31-12, despite tries from Lee Kibble and Mark Robertson.
Then in their last tie the Scots, with Ben Addison yellow-carded, lost 33-14 to Tunisia with tries scored by Hawks'Adamson and Robertson - the latter again the most consistent of the Scots squad.
England were given a major scare when they were held to a 14-14 draw by Wales in their opening game, but bounced back to demolish Portugal 58-5.
In other games, Tunisia shocked Australia 21-12 and there were wins for Fiji, Argentina, Samoa
