The annual Boxing Day clash at New Anniesland looks like being a cracker this year. The Exiles are able to field an exceptionally strong side containing no fewer than 8 Premier 1 players, others from Premier sides in Scotland and students and Army Officers from over the border.
The side will be captained amateur international stand off Murray Strang and he will be assisted by Stu Low, Ricky Munday, Stewart Smith, Richard McKnight and Ricky Munday from the Hawks back division and Matt Smith, Chooks Agayna and Niall Caddell from the forwards. Other than Hawks there is Grant Strang from Aberdeen Grammar, Stuart Ker from Stewart's Melville, his brother Andrew and cousin Alan Ker from Murrayfield Wanderers, Sandy Fitzpatrick from the Highlanders, Jamie Robertson from Murrayfield Wanderers, Ross Campbell from RHC, Robert McLeod from Newcastle University, Garry Smith from Aberdeen University Graeme Maclean back from injury and a number of others still to declare their hand.
Although Accies have a number of players away on holiday, they are able to welcome Mike Hermes back after a long injury lay off, Ally McLay, who now teaches at Glasgow Academy and Colin Malcolm of Cummnock have agreed to guest.
With this level of talent on display it promises to be a great game of running rugby for the spectators to enjoy.
The kick off is at 2pm and entry to the ground is free.
There will also be a Second XV match at the same time. Anyone who has played for Accies or Glasgow Academy at any time and who would like a game should report to New Anniesland by 12-45pm on the day
