Glasgow team to face Parma

Glasgow Warriors have named their team to take on Parma in Saturday's key European Challenge Cup game.
Victory for the Warriors in Italy could set up a winner-takes-all clash with Saracens at Hughenden next weekend.

Glasgow were forced into a change to their anticipated XV when Donnie Macfadyen's hopes of returning to action were scuppered after he was injured in training.

A thigh injury has kept Donnie out recently but after getting back to fitness he was pencilled into Glasgow's team to face Parma on Saturday.

However, he suffered a twist to a knee in training on Tuesday and medics advised Glasgow coach Sean Lineen that, while not serious, Donnie would require a few days to recover. Donnie should still be able to join next weekend's Scotland training sessions.

Sean said in The Scotsman: "We are missing Scott Lawson as well - his ankle is still not quite right - and John Beattie is just working his way back from injury, but we can afford to make changes to keep things fresh and reward players showing form.

"Steve Swindall and Andy Newman have been working hard, pushing the guys in their positions, so they get a chance, and Sam [Pinder] and Kevin Tkachuk have been outstanding coming off the bench in recent games so it's time they started. And Sean Marsden is another who works hard in training, has a great attitude and deserves a chance, so he's in at full-back for us this week."

Sean denies he's resting key players for what should be a pool decider with Saracens at Hughenden next week, with Parma already having been defeated 69-7 at Hughenden.

"If we don't have the same attitude we had when we went to Narbonne, prepared to fight for everything, we will lose," he warned.
