PREMIERSHIP ROUNDUP

Club Round-up 19
Ewen Logan, Pat MacArthur and Jon Kee helped Ayr to their best ever Premiership campaign Ayr were celebrating after outgunning Heriot's 20-3 at Millbrae to make sure of finishing runners-up to Currie in the Premiership race - their best ever league campaign.
They never looked like losing after establishing a seven-point advantage at the halfway stage.

Ryan Holland, Glenn Tippett and Cammy Taylor were the try stars for the seasiders, with Nick Lavelle on target twice.

Graham Wilson clipped over the points for Heriot's.

Melrose rounded off their campaign on a high note by edging out last season's champions Glasgow Hawks 12-8 in a dour encounter at The Greenyards.

Scott Wight and Wayne Mitchell were the home try-scorers, the former adding a conversion. But their success was tarnished by the sin-binnings of Graeme Dodds and Richard Higgins.

Jamie Kerr went over for the only Hawks try, Mike Adamson also banging over a penalty.

Tries by Mike Robertson and Bruce McNeill set up a tense but well-merited 14-13 win for Hawick against Dundee HSFP at Mayfield.

Barry Sutherland added the extras to both scores, with namesake David marking his senior debut for High with a penalty double along with the conversion of their single touchdown from centre Lindsay Graham.

Ross Cook bagged a 29-point haul to inspire Boroughmuir to a clinical 54-5 victory over relegated Aberdeen GSFP at storm-lashed Meggetland.

Muir scored eight touchdowns, three being snapped up by Cook - who also slotted seven conversions, starting and finishing the rout in the process.

The other scores came from Ben Fisher (2), Stuart McGee, Angus Martyn and James Fish, while Rab Barrie ploughed over for the sole reply from the disheartened Dons.

Newly-crowned champions Currie consigned Watsonians to third spot by pipping them 12-10 in a Malleny Park mudbath.

Each side claimed two tries, with the only conversion by Ally Warnock proving crucial.

Dougie Brown gave Sonians the early edge before John Cox went over for the home side, Warnock adding the kick.

Gavin Brown put the visitors back in front on the stroke of the interval, but the clinching score came from man-of-the-match Ross Weston seven minutes after the restart.
