The way that Fort Matilda is usually approached by drivers coming from Glasgow is to drive towards Gourock on Eldon Street turning up Wood Street and thence into Octavia Terrace.

Unfortunately,Octavia Terrace is being re-surfaced from Wood Street west to just beyond the Clubhouse.

This means that drivers should proceed along Eldon Street past Wood Street on the left, past the end of the Esplanade on the right and finally taking the next on the left - Octavia Terrace - almost opposite the beginning of the Battery Park. Once in Octavia Terrace keep to the left and "follow the road" until final Road Closed signs. This is almost at the entrance to the Clubhouse.
