GHK MATCH REPORT


Uddingston 5 GHK 36

After the disappointment of last weeks result GHK got back to winning ways at Uddingston. The pitch was in remarkably good condition and both teams did their best to entertain in difficult conditions.GHK dominated the open play throughout the match and led 22-0 at half time. After half time it took fully twenty minutes for a further score which put the result beyond Uddingstons reach.

The first try after 10 minutes is described as "A crucial missed tackle by
the Villagers created an overlap for a GHK winger to sprint under the posts
for the opening try. The conversion was on target and GHK went ahead 7-0."
We then have "GHK extended their lead in 24 minutes, when the power and
pace of their centres drove them over.
The conversion was wide, but GHK led 12-0.
An Uddingston attack was broken up, with a GHK player setting off at pace
down the wing.
As Uddingston’s defence committed to the tackle, the GHK winger won the
race to collect the loose ball and dive over in the corner.
The conversion was again missed, but GHK led 17-0.
GHK secured their four-try bonus point ahead of half-time, bringing the
score to 22-0.
The visitors took until 24 minutes of the second half before they increased
their score.
Having created a two-man overlap on the left wing, GHK moved ball out wide
and used their pace to out-run the cover defence and score in the corner.
despite attrocious conditions, the kicker converted for 29-0.
With the game entering the final 10 minutes, GHK again used their forward
power to drive deep into Uddingston’s 22.
A ruck formed in front of the posts and it was a simple pick and drive that
found the gap to score GHK’s sixth try of the afternoon, and the conversion
was on target for a 36-0 lead."
