Hawks Cup hopes came to an end this afternoon with a pretty comprehensive
defeat to GHA.
Hawks 0 GHA 52
This really was a game of two halfs.
Hawks held their own in the first half and were unlucky to go in 12-0 at
halftime.
However the second half was more of a procession to the Hawks line as GHA
turned the screw. Hawks were very rarely out of their own half and GHA capitalised
on every Hawks mistake. GHA were faster, fitter and controlled the proceedings.
Hawks weren't helped by a stream of injuries that resulted in players playing
out of position and injured players playing on as Hawks ran out of replacements.
GHA scored 8 tries with 6 conversions, which possibly flatters them, but
no one could deny that they were worthy winners.
We wish GHA well in their Cup journey.
Hawks now play Dalziel midweek at Dalziel, in a game that could decide who
joins GHA in the Cup.
The squad want to continue and we'll now focus on the Glasgow Cup competition.
