Secretaries of Associate Member Clubs 2 February 2007
Dear Sir
Black Market Tickets
I regret to advise you that we are in receipt of details of a number of match tickets allocated to Scottish clubs which have been offered for sale on the black market. These tickets include not only our forthcoming Six Nations fixtures at Murrayfield but also England v Scotland at Twickenham.
As all you will be aware the onward sale of tickets, including auction on websites such as Ebay, is in contravention of the conditions of ticket issue and Member Clubs are requir ed to enforce this provision on the members to whom they allocate tickets. Where a breach of the conditions of issue is proven the penalty tariff normally involves a reduction in the following season's ticket allocation to the club of 50%, rising to 100% depending on the circumstances.
I would ask you to remind your members of the conditions under which the tickets are issu ed and to re-emphasise to them the potential consequences to your club of any breaches of these conditions.
Yours faithfully
Graham A Ireland
