FIRST DEFEAT OF SEASON

Boroughmuir U 15s, 21- Glasgow Hawks U 15s, 8

It was obvious to everyone involved with the squad that this match was going to be several steps up and so it proved. The game was incredibly entertaining, fast and competitive

Muir had a lot of early pressure and this payed off with a try from their no. 10 after 13mins which was converted.
Hawks pulled back 3 points with a Chris Rhodes penalty before Muir scored their 2nd try which they duly converted. The Hawks tackling in mid field was non existent – a first for this season – There were lots of uncharacteristic handling errors as well and it was obvious that the boys were feeling the pressure. Muir went in at half time 14-3 ahead and they deserved it.

With 15 mins to go Robbie Nicholson went over for a fine try in the corner, the score was 21-8

Boroughmuir were the better team on the day. They will be a very difficult team to beat if they keep playing like they did, hats off to them.

As for our boys they will learn from this I am sure. They need to win each of the remaining games against Stirling and Melrose to stand a chance of reaching the semis. I am sure they can do that providing they remember to get the basics right.
