GHK VS CUMNOCK

A pre match inspection of the pitch revealed that despite the ongoing rainfall the pitch was in fantastic condition and it was impossible to tell that the pitch had been used by the school earlier in the day. Many thanks to Graham and his staff who work hard to maintain the playing surface .We are indeed lucky to have the best facilties in the West of Scotland.

On to the game. The first 20 minutes were fairly closely matched with GHK trailing 0-6 having conceded two penalties. However the side were looking lively and after 30 minutes Stu Hunter hit the line at pace and rounded three players to score an unconverted try.

Close to half time we had a penalty miss which was quickly followed by a James Small try when he charged onto a pop pass to score a converted try under the posts.GHK conceded a penalty for failing to release and went in at half time 12-9. At this stage the team were really looking dangerous

Shortly after the restart the GHK defence was all over the place and the Cumnock winger flew over to score a converted try to make the score 12-16

GHK responded almost immediately spinning the ball left for James Small to score a converted try. Shortly after it was James once again when fast hands produced a break on the left and another converted try. At this stage we were being assisted by some fairly poor tackling by the opposition but GHK were now looking very confident.

Next it was McT who charged down the left wing handing off an opponent who probably wished he had gone a bit lower !!! and side stepped the full back to score another converted try. Colin Donald picked up at No 8 to feed Cammy Little who went over from about five metres 38-16

It was now Cumnock"s turn who scored a converted try following a succession of rucks close to the GHK line.

However there was no comeback on the cards when David White ghosted through the defence to score an unconverted try followed by Cammy who broke from half way to produce a trademark mazy run to score an unconverted try.

Overall a fine perfomance !!!!!
