GOOD EVANS MAX

The Scotland 7s team will have a touch of the Max factor as Thom Evans will team up with his younger brother, Max, on Saturday afternoon as the Scotland 7s team take to the international pitch at Murrayfield during the half-time break of the RBS 6 Nations Championship match between Scotland and Ireland.

In a sevens demonstration game, the Scotland 7s squad will be joined by one other very familiar face.

Glasgow Warriors flanker Donnie MacFadyen, who has been capped 11 times for Scotland and represented the Scotland 7s team in the 2002 IRB Sevens World Series, will also feature in the exhibition, showing the sell-out Murrayfield crowd the talents of yet another one of Scotland’s world class back-row forwards.

On the benefit of sevens rugby to any player, MacFadyen said: “Sevens is a fast and effective way to develop your skills and fitness levels. It brings you right out of your comfort zone because you are forced to make split second decisions whilst trying a whole load of other new things at the same time.”

Looking ahead to teaming up with MacFadyen and both of the Evans brothers on home soil, Scotland 7s captain Scott Forrest added: “Tomorrow will be a great day for the Scotland 7s team. We have been playing in front of big crowds all over the world in the IRB Sevens World Series, but to play in front of 68,000 people at Murrayfield will be something special.

”It’s a great opportunity for all of the boys to show what they can do and I’m sure the supporters from both Scotland and Ireland will be on the edge of their seats with the power of Donnie MacFadyen and the pace of the Evans brothers on display.

“I would urge anyone who enjoys Saturday’s sevens demonstration game to come back and support us when we return to Murrayfield on 2-3 June for the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s – the final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series.”

The half-time exhibition is designed to show a packed Murrayfield stadium the skilful, fast and dynamic game of rugby sevens, whilst raising awareness of the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s, and the party atmosphere of rugby sevens will officially arrive at Murrayfield as the Scotland 7s team run out alongside the Rockettes cheerleaders.

The Scotland 7s team is one of 16 sides invited by the IRB to compete in the prestigious tournament on the international stage. The Scotland 7s squad, which is made up of players from Scottish Rugby’s National Academy and supplemented throughout the series by fulltime professional players, beat both Australia and Argentina to finish sixth in their last outing at the USA Sevens in San Diego last month.

For further information about the tournament and to get your tickets at the fantastic value price of only £10 for one day or just £15 for both (with free concessions on all pre-booked tickets), log onto the official Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s website - www.edinburgh7s.com
