France U21 56, Scotland U20 10

Scotland Under 20 failed to finished their 2007 U21 Six Nations with a win as they lost by eight tries to two in France today.

The Scots, who competed well for the opening 30 minutes, couldn’t contain a lively French side who sailed home to victory in front of a vociferous home crowd.

The Scots took the lead in the 18th minute through a Daniel Levison try. France levelled the score and edged into the lead with a converted try only eight minutes later.

With two tries just before the end of the first half, the Scots couldn’t find any way back into the game and, despite a Pat McArthur try; France added five tries to their tally in the second period.

Scotland U20 head coach, Greig Oliver said: “We did well in the first half hour, we pushed them as far as we could and frustrated them for some stages of the game, but they just overpowered us.

“You can’t fault the players for their effort, but as soon as France cut loose, we just couldn’t live with them.”

All substitutes were used.
