Boroughmuir U 15s, 32 – Glasgow Hawks U 15s, 17
It was a very exciting day at Murrayfield and isn’t it amazing that some of this group have now played twice at Murrayfield and are either 14 or 15. What a stage on which to play your last game for Hawks, its just a pity that I cant report a victory.
Boroughmuir came out of the traps like men possessed. Within 15 mins they had scored 3 excellent tries and converted one of them. The Hawks tackling was shocking but that is not to take anything away from ‘Muir: in the first half they were untouchable. The closest Hawks came to a score was from an excellent break from Patrick Bell just before half time and only very fine tackling from Boroughmuir kept him out. Boroughmuir went in 27-0 up at half time.
The second half was a different story. Within 3 mins of the restart Rory Taylor touched down. Then Rory offloaded very well to Quintin Liao who went over in the corner. They weren’t finished either, Robbie Nicholson scored a lovely try and Chris Rhodes converted. It was now 27-17 and there was about 10 mins to go, game on. Not for long unfortunately, Hawks made a couple of changes and ‘Muir pounced to score again. The final score was 32-17.
Boroughmuir were very deserved winners, congratulations to them. Our boys put up an excellent second half comeback but it was all just a little too late.
