THE YOONI 7S THE TRUE VERSION?

Glasgow Uni 7s

GHK retained the plate at Glasgow Uni 7s after a glorious day at Garscube. With the sun shining, the champagne rugby flowing and the beers readily available, GHK and a Glasgow Hawks side ultimately made up for GHK players were placed in groups 1 and 4 respectively. GHK drawn alongside Strathclyde Uni, Glasgow Caley Uni and once more with Whitecraigs. Hawks drew an Edinburgh Uni select, Glasgow Accies and Glasgow Uni Freshers.

GHK took apart both uni sides before being beaten 26-5 in the pool decider by Whitecraigs (who were eventual runners up...the infamous Olly and Dave making cameo appearances for them against the hosts). Hawks also won their first 2 matches before being beaten by Accies.

This left both Old Anniesland sides in the semis of the plate taking the field against each other! However, the refs then realised the error in their ways. Hawks played East Kilbride losing narrowly, whilst GHK got back to winning ways disposing of a Strathallan FP select side.

The final was a fairly one sided tie with GHK (minus the flying Liam McDermid who had decided that his 400m hurdle race the following day, which could qualify him for competitions in numerous Eurpoean destinations, was more important) running out comfortable winners against East Kilbride.

16 players were involved:

Stuart Pollock (later named GHK player of the season)
Gordi Reid
Murray Stewart
Gillon Rand
Dave Ross
Danny Hoffman
Liam McDermid
Chris Breckinridge
Bill Criggie
Chas McFarlane
Dave Stewart
Scott Burleigh
Jamie McKinnon
Alex McLemon
Richard Peoples
Evan (who played his first game of rugby for 9 years)

Also Mike Adamson, Olly Jones and Dave Fearnley who all appeared briefly.
