MELROSE 7S FALCONS SWOOP ON HAWKS

Glasgow Hawks 5 Newcastle Falcons 24
Glasgow Hawks’ attempt to put reigning Melrose Sevens champions Newcastle Falcons out of the tournament began well when Steven Duffy powered through from close range.
Falcons, though, hit back quickly when Ollie Phillips broke through and Adam Dehaty converted to put his side ahead.
Dehaty then collected loose ball in his own ’22 before breaking to the halfway line. He fed Cammy Johnson who had more than enough pace to carry the ball the rest of the way for the try.
Johnson then turned provider. Supplying Scott Riddell who out ran Mikie Adamson to score by the posts.
Hawks kept battling with a strong tackle denying Adamson in the right hand corner, but it was Dehaty with James Hamer converting who rounded up the scoring.
