I am writing to let you know about a plan that Olly Scott and I have devised for some summertime entertainment!

Over the past six months I have been working in the Rogano restaurant, saving and waiting to travel to East Africa in June to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. While planning the trip with Olly and the other four boys we decided that we should capitalise on our spare time before leaving and do some charity fundraising. Various ideas kicked back and fourth before finally deciding upon the idea of organising a charity ball. The purpose of the ball being to get all of our family, friends (old & new), spanning all ages together for a charity focused fun filled evening.

The charity that we have chosen to help is the Mark Scott Foundation, which provides opportunities for young people from differing cultural backgrounds. Many of our friends have supported the Foundation over the past 10 years through things such as fundraisers, running marathons, etc. We feel that now is an ideal time to make our contribution to this worthwhile cause.

So if anyone at Hawks, young and old are interested in getting involved can you forward on this email so they can fill out the attached info/application forms and send back to Olly or myself. Should be a cracking evening!!!

The BYOBanter Ball 2005

Dear Sir or Madam,

We have pleasure inviting you to The BYOBanter Charity Ball which will be held in the Radisson SAS Hotel, Glasgow on Saturday the 30th July 2005. The proceeds of the ball will go to the Mark Scott Foundation Leadership for Life Programme.

The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Programme is an innovative approach to personal development which brings together young Scottish people from different religions and cultural backgrounds and trains and supports them as they design and deliver a community based project over six months.

Our aim primarily is to raise money for a very worthy charity but additionally to have old and new friends come together for what promises to be an exciting and fun filled evening. This includes a beautiful three-course meal at the five star Radisson hotel, followed by our surprise guest speaker for the evening and charity auction including some exceptional prizes. Following the auction, dance the night away to the sounds of Robbie Shepherd’s Nightmare ceilidh band whose credits include the Hogmanay Millennium Celebration at Loch Lomond Castle.

Charity auction includes:
• A full team signed British and Irish Lions jersey from this summers tour to New Zealand.
• A day’s golf for three at the prestigious Loch Lomond course.
• Signed Rangers and Celtic jerseys.
• A meal at Glasgow’s finest seafood restaurant the Rogano.
• Signed Glasgow Rugby jersey.
• Rugby ball signed by stars of the Newcastle Falcons.
• The ball organisers’ bodies to be used as “slaves for a day”!!!
• Any other donations for the raffle and auction would be very welcome!

The enclosed application form should be returned to either Cameron Wilson or Oliver Scott as soon as possible and by the 22nd of June. The application should be sent together with your remittance for the cost of all tickets applied for. We will look forward to seeing you at the dinner.
