The build up to tomorrow's Scottish Cup Semi final between West and Hawks at Burnbrae is well and truly underway
A pre match interview and photocall took place at Burnbrae today with STV covering putting out tonight
Ever since David squared up to Goliath in front of several thousand Philistines and Israelis, local rivalries have always brought out the crowds. While we may not command the same global attention as the Ali V Frazier contest, I am sure that the prospect of a little local, friendly rivalry that pitches the oldest team in the Glasgow area against the youngest (West established 1865, Hawks 1997) will draw a big support today. The prize means that at least one west coast club will be at Murrayfield this year.
It is the young upstarts who have had the upper hand in recent meetings but with West’s recent heroics against P1 opposition we know this will be an exciting contest.
All at Hawks are delighted to see West climbing back up the leagues and we hope that it is not long before we are playing regular matches against each other for the National Championship. But – for today let us enjoy the afternoon and the opportunity to strengthen the friendships created through the enjoyment of our sport.
Kenny Hamilton, Chairman, Glasgow Hawks.
