EDINBURGH ACADS rugby star Alistair Marsh could be set for a double match of the day by combining his wedding ceremony 50 miles away in Hawick with an airlift to and from the Scottish Cup Final at Murrayfield, it emerged today.

Acads have qualified for their first final, against Glasgow Hawks on Saturday week, at approximately the same time as prop forward Alistair is due to wed fiancee Lorraine McColm.

The wedding was arranged two years ago with guests travelling from as far away as Dubai.

Today, Lorraine, a hairdresser, contacted the Evening News after we told of the clash of dates following Saturday's semi-final victory over Boroughmuir to say her husband-to-be might still be able to get to the ball.

"If the Registrar agrees to move the time of our wedding and someone can assist with the use of a helicopter then Alistair says it would be the ultimate present from me to him," she said.

"He said it would be two dreams come true to be in both places on the same day.

"We are meeting the registrar today to see if a switch of timing for the ceremony is possible.

I've got to try to arrange this wedding present to Alistair especially if he promises to bring back the Scottish Cup to our reception!"

The final kicks-off at 4pm.
