STEVE BEATS JAFFA CAKE ADDICTION

IT ALL STARTED WITH SCOTT INGLIS JAFFA CAKES

The real Slim Stevie stands up

Steve Swindall has signed a new deal with Glasgow
Sean Lineen thinks Steve Swindall can go all the way in the Scottish game now the flanker has won his battle against Jaffa Cake addiction.
Glasgow coach Sean is delighted to have re-signed Stevie, plus Sam Pinder and Fergus Thomson, on new two-year contracts. The signings are a boost for the Warriors ahead of tonight's crucial Magners League clash with Ulster.

Sean said in the Daily Record: "I remember Steve when he was a member of the Scotland Under-21 squad I coached and in those days he wasn't one of the fittest lads because of his love for Jaffa Cakes.

"It wasn't as if he was scoffing two or three at a time - you had to measure his consumption in whole boxes.

"He was the first to admit his lifestyle wasn't what it should have been. But he has addressed the issue and is definitely capable of going a lot further in the professional game.

"I was delighted when he was included in Frank Hadden's training group for the Churchill Cup because it is a chance for him to take another step up the ladder.

Sean insisted he is still in the hunt for big-name players from overseas but said: "Every team in Europe wants to snap up these guys and we are having to fight it out with the likes of Toulouse, Biarritz, Gloucester and even Ulster.

"One thing is certain - if a leading light comes to Glasgow it will be for rugby reasons and not the money."
