Premier 1 Election to the Scottish Rugby Council – Held at Murrayfield Monday 23rd May
The Premier 1 Forum elected George Clark (Boroughmuir) as its representative to serve on the Scottish Rugby Council. The forum believes that George’s background in law, business and rugby administration places him in a unique position to contribute to the work of the Scottish Rugby Council and, if elected, to the Scottish Rugby Board.
The election process was extremely rigorous with George and the 3 other candidates (Mike Dalgety of Melrose, Terence Froud of Hawick and Gavin Hastings of Watsonians) submitting a 350 word personal statement for consideration and being questioned closely by club representatives on issues as diverse as the priority issues for Scottish Rugby – finance, increasing participation, retaining players in the sport and improving performance and; the need to improve the image of Scottish Rugby through maintaining the drive for modernisation and transparency.
George said last night, “The game we love is facing up to major challenges and I regard it as a great honour to be elected to contribute to the new future for Scottish Rugby.”
The other candidates, Mike, Terence and former Scotland and British Lion captain Gavin will continue to support the work of the Premier 1 forum.
